Plans and billing
What each tier includes, how limits are enforced, and how to change or cancel a subscription.
The plans
| Plan | Price | For |
|---|---|---|
Free | $0 | Individual developers, students, hobbyists. |
Pro | $12/month | Freelancers, consultants, and power users. |
Team | $49/month, 5 seats | Teams sharing infrastructure and secrets. |
Enterprise | Custom | Compliance and identity requirements. |
Every limit and feature is listed in Plans and limits. Current pricing is on the pricing page.
Billing is per workspace
A subscription belongs to a workspace, not a person. Being a member of a Team workspace does not give your own workspace Team features, and upgrading your own does not upgrade anyone else's.
How many workspaces you may *own* is the one thing decided by your own plan - specifically by the most capable plan among the workspaces you already own. Workspaces you were invited into never count against it.
Upgrading and cancelling
Settings → Billing, as the workspace owner.
Upgrading takes effect immediately, prorated against the remainder of the period.
Cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the paid period, then drops to Free.
Payment method changes are handled by Paddle; card details never reach Shortspan.
Billing runs through Paddle as merchant of record, which is why the invoice comes from Paddle and why VAT is handled for you. Billing questions: support@shortspan.dev.
What happens when you go over
Nothing is deleted on downgrade. Data over the new limits stays and stays readable; you simply cannot create more of that thing until you are back under the cap.
| Over the limit on | What stops working |
|---|---|
Projects | Creating a new project. Existing projects are untouched. |
Infrastructure resources | Registering another. Existing targets keep working. |
Runbooks | Creating another. Existing runbooks still run. |
Seats | Inviting anyone new. Current members keep their access. |
Features gated by tier - version history, audit logs, team management, access workflows - become unavailable rather than destructive. Version history is still *recorded* on Free; upgrading later gives you access to history that was being kept all along.
Billing notifications
Workspace owners are emailed when a subscription activates, when a trial is about to end, when a payment fails, and when a subscription is cancelled. A failed payment is not silent - you get warned before anything is downgraded.
